When Hurricane Katrina took everything they owned, Gina and Steve Hayes packed what little they had and searched for a place to begin again. Gina came upon a home in Covington, and as she pulled up to the house for a showing, a young child rode a bicycle past the white picket fence. In that small, ordinary moment, Gina felt something she hadn’t felt before, a sense of home. A slower pace in a Norman Rockwell-esque community that looked out for one another. Gina knew instantly: this is where I belong.
